… you’ll find Albert St Food & Wine. Philippa Sibley, known as the queen of pastry and desserts, is executive chef and her desserts are definitely off the charts.
We had some delicious charred Padron peppers, a refreshing “tomato party” pizza and some croquettes to share but the desserts were definitely the highlight of the night.
This picture does not make sense but it is strawberries hidden under balsamic ice cream with meringue (those white sticks that look like packing styrofoam) . Balsamic ice cream, you say? Good thick and syrupy balsamic vinegar mixed into vanilla ice cream is very exciting on the taste buds – It’s like a kick and a punch and you’re left thinking, “I want more!”
The deconstructed tiramisu was laid out as a shot of strong bitter-sweet coffee, ice cream and the cake. Whether you mix every thing together or have each element on its own, it definitely presented this famous dessert in a new exciting light.
Albert St Food & Wine is a wonderful space with plenty of light, chatty staff members, and fast becoming our favourite local haunt. I am excited that this addition confirms that the Brunswick area is a food haven for many.
